Daily Deviation Disaster: Cheetah in a wig.

I wonder what the deal is behind this picture. It’s a cheetah in a wig.

Whoops, never mind: The artist seems to be a furry. I guess they think they’re awesome since one of their tablet drawings got a Daily Deviation. But no matter how hard they try, they will never be this awesome.

How to Get Your “deviation” Listed Under “Most Popular”

In no particular order:

1. Make an image of a catgirl/wolfgirl/any-kind-of-animal-girl wearing next to nothing.

Our Daily Disasters: A Closer Look at Daily Deviations

The majority of deviantART members look at Daily Deviations as somewhere they would possibly like to be in their artistic futures. What they forget is like the majority of deviantART members, the ones who select Daily Deviations are just like them. There’s the same ratio of individuals with a shallow understanding of art to those with a much more complex understanding. Meaning, a great majority of artwork selected to be featured as Daily Deviations are not entirely  5 star works. After spending the past hour or two browsing through the Daily Deviations of the past week or so, I have compiled a rough list of the different categories that the majority of Deviations fit into, those chosen by the shallow minded individuals with selection privileges.

The deviations that I have chosen are typical samples of each category I created. The pieces might be technically sound but they are lacking in originality. Which is what makes this such a pity to see, there are so many artists who are so skilled with their hands yet the artistic development of their mind is so far behind. There are good artists on deviantART, there are plenty of artists that I passionately admire for their technical skill and their creativity.  It’s a horrible, horrible, pity that such artists do not receive the exposure that they deserve and regardless of the artist deserving exposure the ones who are receiving subject the members of deviantART to this illusion that this is what good art is. That these are examples to inspire and to follow. They are not.

Do not trust that something is good just because it is a Daily Deviation. There are good Daily Deviations, but for sure, not every one of them is good. Also, just because it doesn’t fit into one of the categories I’ve created doesn’t mean it’s good. The majority of works fell into these categories.

Social Reject. But for a Very Good Reason!

I Refuse

The more you kick me,
The more I refuse to lay down,
The more you mock,
The more I refuse to take it.
(…)

“I Refuse” and “Take A Stand” are extremely cliché terms to be used in any kind of poem: Just look at the results for “I Refuse” and “Take A Stand”. “I Refuse”/”I refuse to” is basically a fancy way to say “I DON’T WANNA”, whereas “Take a stand” is basically a fancy way to say “TELL THOSE GUYS YOU DON’T WANNA”.
